This is another quick finish - a mobile pouch

These days we are into exploring different parts of Oman. This weekend it was a trip to Salalah . During Khareef Season it is more green than usual. And there are few relegious monuments like prophet Ayoub Job tomb and the resting place of Nabi Imran, father of the Virgin Mary.

I was playing with the left over yarn from the granny square throw.....actually i was trying to crochet a baby cap. My gauge size will never come out right....i think i put more pressure on each stitch...so that baby cap became small.....i didn't want to frog it and restart again...so i made it into a small pouch....luckily my bangle box will go into it .....and here is the picture......it is so funny....transformation of baby cap into a jewellery box pouch..:):)...

This is a throw I made for my DH's recliner.....It is made up of 120 granny squares and i took 3 weeks to finish it....I'm happy with the finish . Now i have to do an afghan before christmas to replace this during christmas time....I couldn't find a christmas green colour yarn in Muscat....I hope i can find something during my next trip to Dubai in Sept.

It was a long weekend this time with a public holiday. So we geard up our camping kit to climb up the mountain Jebel Shams . It was a beautiful drive with good scenary. We stopped the car when its altimeter was showing 2000m.....and looked out for a safe place to put our tent. In the night temperature dropped to 16 degree celcius and it was windy. It was a different experience to camp on the top of the mountain....

Inspiration from other creative blogs

Atlast I got a broadband connection. .....now i can access most of the sites and blogs with lots of pictures...It was very disapointing when i was using dial up it was too slow and i couldn't see any of the pictures in the blog...

My inspiration to stitch or crochet mostly come from other creative people's blog....yesterday when i visited Pearlin's blog i saw this fan bookmark...and she had also posted the source of pattern...Thank you pearlin ....straight away i went to crochetroo to get the pattern. That was an amaizing place with tons of beautiful crochet work...I thank her for sharing her pattern to all of us.

I could finish this fan bookmark in very short time.....this is the only varigated thread i have in my collection.......

Getting back to blogging after hectic 6 months

Now I understood that moving out of the country is not an easy task.....It took almost 6 months to settle down. We are now based in Muscat.... still waiting for a Broadband internet connection .

I cannot imagine how i managed to live without communicating with my online friends this long....Hi friends...i'll mail you in person soon....I know most of you will be visiting my blog to see what happened to me...

I have kept aside a pattern and fabric and stuff in my cross stich bag...while travelling ...so i could finish that one pattern in 6 months time. that was very helpful for me to unwind my stressfull days. What are you guys upto...i'll soon visit your blogs to see your happenings....For the time being...my finished piece of work.....

This will be my last post for this year. I'm sorry to inform you that i'll not be able to update my blog for some time. We are getting ready for a move....yes you read it right....we are moving away from Dubai, UAE. I think it will take some time for me to settle in our new place. I'll try to visit and leave comments in your blogs in between . I will update my blog once i'm settled and back to stitching. Due to packing for the move, i couldn't participate in any exchanges....I hope 2008 will be a great year for me for stitching and exchanges. ..See you all next year....

I started to stitch this pattern to make it into an ornament card. When i finished, the design was bigger than the card i have...so i backed it with a piece of felt and make it into an ordinary christmas hanging. not very happy with the finishing....

I hope to finish few more ornaments before the christmas.....

I actually finished this purse 2 weeks back, but i was not confident enough to fix a zipper for that ....how funny.....

Yesterday evening i some how managed to fix a zip....here it is ....

Today morning i made another x'mas ornament...nothing new ....i tried a new colour this time.

This time it is not a cross stitch finish.

This ornament is made of felt. I bought the felt to give backing for my crossstitched ornament. While i was shopping I saw a x'mas tree shaped pillow made of felt...that was my inspiration to make this ornament.

Another one here is a crochet ornament...It was very easy....finished in an hour.

I have a great news to announce.....

Quilt made with Ellen Maurer-Stroh's mystery baby pattern to raise fund for Save the children project is getting ready for auction. You can see the finished quilt picture in their website.

They will soon post more pictures so that everyone can see Ellen's exclusive pattern for this project. I'm so happy that i can see my Ellen's chicken baby sitting there.... I'll post that portion of the quilt...I don't want to post the picture of the whole quilt here, because that credit goes to them exclusively .

This time it is a Biscornu shape. This is my first trial to make this shape... Annette’s Acre's finishing lessons helped me to finish this ornament. I'm not very happy about the finish. i think it is slightly bulky...."my fault of selecting the fabric and pattern". I have to finish of some of my 14 count fabrics.....so i'm using it to stitch all of my christmas ornaments this year.

As usual i played with Picasa to get a single pic from different view.

How is it...Please leave your comments about my new finish.

Another x'mas ornament

Every december i'll think i'll make atleast 12 ornaments (every month each) by next christmas. But that never worked for me. This year i'm in a mood to make as many christmas ornament as possible before i put up my tree. I don't know how many i can make ....this is my new addition to this years x'mas ornaments....

This is my first trial of making twisted chord using a DMC 321 and DMC 5283. I was sweating when i finished fixing......hoooooooo....it was slightly confusing for me...the spiral effect....I'm happy with the finish...

I have added few of the blogs in the beautifu blog list. It really worth visiting .....lots of inspiring new ideas. I found a Blog of Dubai based crocheter.

wow...she has done a lot of crocheting....it is pulling me more towards doing crochet.....

As i promised I have a new cross stitch finish to show you . It is a double sided snowman ornament. I was longing to stitch this pattern from charles craft since last year. It was taking so much time because i'm not good with plastic canvas....it is looking cute...right. To show you both the sides together i played with picasa to make a collage.

How is it....I think you can see both the sides...:):).

I'm sorting out the stash i brought from India on my last vacation....i'll put a pic after i organise it.....See you ....bye

Crochet x'mas ornament

After finishing the baby blanket , I started to cross stitch a x'mas ornament. Again a crochet pattern caught me and i made a x'mas ornament.

I'm posting the pic below....photo is not very good.....my very first crochet x'mas ornament.

Finished Granny square blanket

It took 4 months since i started this granny square blanket . 2 months is the time i took to crochet ...other 2 months i couldn't do much. For some time no more crochet...it is taking too much time to get a finished piece. I have to finish some christmas stitching by the end of Nov.

We went to visit a wadi last weekend. It was a beautiful drive and the weather was pleasent...but the wadi was dry ...we saw a dry dam ( photo in the album- trip to wadi) first time in our life. Our concept of a dam is Idukki dam in our homeland with full of water 365 days. But in this desert it is foolish to expect a dam with water. We are planning to visit other wadis in UAE during this winter. Weather forcast says rain is expected by this weekend and I hope I can post beautiful photos after our next trip.

Another week without much stitching

I didn't get much time to stitch after my vacation. Right now i'm crocheting an afghan and it is taking my stitching time. I can crochet at any time when i watch TV or if we are going for a long drive. But cross stitch need more concentration otherwise i'll end up frogging it.

We had a nice Eid weekend this time with our friends in Oman. Oman is a place with lots of heritage and country life and it is a relief from the busy daily routine of modern city Dubai. Drive to Oman itself is a beautiful experience with mountains and farm lands on either side of the highway. we saw two men crossing the 6 lane highway with their camels (photos in the album)....I took my crochet bag to crochet during our 5 hrs drive, but the scenic beauty didn't let me crochet.....

I have to do few small stitchings for christmas gifts and my to do list is never ending....getting back to stitching....hope to update my blog soon with few of my stitching finishes...

I'm back home in Dubai after my 2 months vacation......there was no much stitching during the vacation. I got some time to work on Granny square afghan. I'll post a picture of it once it is finished. I took my cross stitch stuff when i went for vacation, but could not stitch much....did few small motifs ...nothing great to post a picture.

I'm trying to catch up with the missed happenings in my favorite stitching blogs....

Cas cenina informed me that they got my finished spring chicken baby.

I have added few finishes in my Finishes in 2007 album. This is my first mail art exchange. It is just in the mail yesterday and it will take sometime to reach her. i have uploaded the pic without disclosing who my partner is. i don't know if she is a frequent visitor to my blog.

I have also uplaoaded the pics of Ryan's RR. he didn't get his RR as yet...and i think due to strike in UK Royal Mail , it is going to take more time. Hope that it will reach Ryan safe.

I got the new look UK crossstitcher magazine and i liked it at first sight. i'm busy with packing for our trip and didn't get chance to read it or look into it properly. i hope i can read it either in the airport lounge or during our train journey.

I'll be flying to india on 23rd night and i don't know if i'll get a chance to update my blog for sometime.

I have finished stitching Ellen's spring Chicken baby for Stitcher's for children the charity project organised by Casa cenina.

It was a great experience to stitch for a charity project. I'm still working on mail art envelop. since it is my first mailart i'm taking more time . I hope i can post the picture of my finished work soon.

Granny Square

I learned to crochet a granny square....and i'm very happy with the result...I'm planning to make am Afghan using that.

I have also finished stitching the Humming Bird Art. It took almost one year to finish, not because of the size of the work....I was stitching many things between and i was busy with few other things.

I have already started stitching Ellen's Spring Chicken Baby for Stitchers for children RR. I hope i can finish it soon and send it back to them..

A mail art is in the to do list for Summer Sampler Mail Art exchange...that need to be send out before July 30th....

Good that i'm always busy with something or other......that will help me to stay away from haunting thoughts...

Today was also a mail day. The kit from Casa cenina arrived today.

I'm suppose to stitch Ellens Spring chicken baby . I got the chart, fabric, DMC colours and a needle too. I wonder they have send the whole DMC floss for each colours . I didn't expect this elaborate package for a charity stitching. They are organising it very well. Hope and pray that their work will be fruitful, that everyone will be able to finish of the work on time.

I'm in a hurry to finish my Humming bird art before i start to stitch the spring chicken baby.

Weather is getting hotter and hotter, so i'm getting more time to stitch.....no much out doors.........

Travelling all the way from USA to UAE parcel from my secret pal reached me after 3 months. I don't know why it took so long.

eventhough it was late....it was a great mail with 2 kits. It is difficult for us to get cross stitch kits here in resonable price.

I'm waiting for my kit from Casa Cenina for the Stitchers for Children. I got the details of the kit, they said it is in the mail on june 15th. I might get it atleast by June25th. I'm going to stitch Ellen's spring chicken baby. It was my first choice and i'm happy that i got that itself.

I finished stitching Ryan RR...i'll post the pic once he get his RR. i can mail it only on saturday...my usual post office day.

i'm still Working on Humming bird kit...deadline is approaching...I'll post the pic as soon as i finish it. I must finish is before i get the spring chicken baby kit.

I'm one of the 50 stitchers who are going to stitch for Stitchers for Children. I'm very happy and excited to stitch for a good cause. It will be a great experience. Looking forward to get more updates from them.

My latest finish i did it on a "Ikea" table cloth. I found it like working on 32 ct linen. I'm very happy with the result.

How many needles do you use during a project? Have you ever loaded up a needle for every color? Do you use a new needle for every project or recycle your favorite needle?

I use only one needle for a project. I'm not comfortable with the idea of loading up needles with different colours, that is needed for the porject. I have 4 needles on my pin cushion always...so i take any one of it to do my stitching. I don't use a new needle for a new project. I always reuse my needle. I dispose the needle when it is not smooth enough to go thru the fabric.

Frogging needle

I got the idea of frogging needle from Yasmin's Blog I have not seen that before. It is very cute and I thought i'll give a try to make it.

Really enjoyed making it...it was fun.

Right now I'm Working on Humming bird Art , it was a gift from Susan. I started it last year, but it is still WIP. I need to finish it soon.I have put a deadline - June 30th. I hope I'll be able to finish it, I'm not stitching any other big projects now.

My Hardanger table runner, a freebie from NordicNeedle is a WIP now...no problem, i need some concentration to do the cutting. I finished all the satin stitches and eyelet stitches and even the button hole stitch for the border. I'm always scared to start cutting, and if i start cutting i need to finish the weaving before i keep it aside.

Health Is Wealth

Last two weeks were not at all good for me with very bad throat infection and fever...It was the time I really felt "Health is the most precious wealth". It was very bad that I could not talk or even sip some water...After 2000 mg of antibiotics per day...now it is like turned into cough and cold...I do not know what to do. I called up the doc to see what can be done...poor doc, she is sick now...So I am surviving on home remedy. Hope and pray that I will be fine soon.

I could not touch my needle and thread for a week. I was working on Kitty card kit , that I got with cross stitcher magazine few months back....I could complete it only today....It took really long to finish 2 small patterns.... This is one of the patterns similar to Tatty Teddies...where the backstitches reveal the beauty of the pattern.

I didn't have to wait for another month to get CrossStitcher issue 185. My letter and my stitching is printed in this issue.

I got a surprise in today's mail. Two packets of Madeira threads. My letter is published in the UK cross sticher magazine, and it is their gift. Poppy informed me that my letter is published in the crossstitcheri ssue 185, and she send me a scaned copy of that page. i'll get a copy of it from my local book store only next month.

Madeira thread is something new for me . I have to learn to use it first. I got a pack of metallic thread of 12 colours and a pack of holographic thread of 6 colours...What a wonderful gift for a stitcher.

Since Long Time.....

It is since long time I have written on my Blog. Today it is so good weather with cloudy sky but i can see Sun peeping through the cloud and it is drizzling as well…..I always love rain, the one thing I miss in this Arabian desert .

I have done a few stitching during last 3 months, looking back I feel I have not wasted my time. There are many more in my To Do List for 2007. I have to restart my crochet as well and finish my UFO Afghan.

It is nice to see the blogs of fellow stitchers, so I have added few beautiful stitching blogs (list is not complete…will add more when I see more…) in the list to visit when I feel down.

April is going to be slightly busy month with stitching, family, and friends….will post pictures as and when I finish each piece.

MS RR, Jan's square is almost over with some more backstitching... hope it will be over by tomorrow or day after.

I have to send the EMS Secret Pal parcel for my partner. I have kept few things from my stash, need to do a small shopping before I seal the packet.

Tom Mouse was a freebie kit along with crossstitcher magazine issue 177. It is a tiny and cute pattern...I could finish it in few hrs (between 2-3 hrs). I really enjoyed stitching this little Tom Mouse.

It seems, EMS RR confusion is over. I'm ready with my square and Senga's fabric is ready...will start stitching soon. I have found a perfect cat for her RR.

I am ready with my square in MSRR and hope to send it to Chiara, Italy soon. I really enjoyed stitching Margaret Sherry (MS) pattern. It is from 12 days of x'mas.

Last week was very busy with lots of happenings. Fire broke out in the kitchen of 11th floor apartment in our building. We heard the fire alarm at around 2' O Clock in the after noon. We were just finishing our lunch. We stay on the 10th floor...I really got paniced. Our house was covered with the smoke...we saw smoke coming out from the A/C vent, and thought...our house is in the fire. My nephew was also with me at that time, he was pulling me out of our apartment. Soon our floor was filled with smoke. We ran down the staircase. As soon as we reached down...security people were climbing up to put off the fire. By God's grace, they could put off the fire in few minutes.

There was a family gathering at our place on Thursday to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and anniversaries of our two cousins. It was a lovely evening. I cooked all our traditional dishes and all were happy with my food as usual.

I have to finish EMS RR soon. I have to finish few other stitching as well before the 31st....
